Videojet’s Philosophy Regarding Unions and Positive
Employee Relations (U.S.)
Videojet is committed to treating all associates with dignity and respect that is aligned with our company values. Many of our customers have been attracted to us because of our efforts to maintain a culture where all associates feel supported in an environment that contributes to a positive associate experience. Customers, old and new, provide the basis for Videojet’s stability and growth. Working together to care for our customers and solve problems daily is the best way to support associate careers and a rewarding work life.
Videojet understands that, at times, associates have concerns and suggestions for improvement and recognizes associates’ right to form or join a union or refrain from doing so. The company encourages our associates to speak up and work directly with their manager to create an inclusive environment where transparency, trust and belonging can flourish. We listen to our associates and recognize that each of you is unique and deserves to be treated as an individual. To that end, we believe that unions are not necessary for our associates and work in opposition to our core value that “we deliver results as a team.”
Our collective long-term interests are best served by maintaining our current environment of open, transparent, and direct fact-based communication without adding an unnecessary layer of bureaucracy. In our culture, we do not believe associates should have to pay union dues and assessments to work for the company and should not be threatened with loss of work and pay because of strikes or work stoppages that can accompany union representation. Nor should associates have to pay a fee to a union to express their concerns. We recognize the value of our associates and, without union representation, provide an environment of competitive wages and benefits, good and safe working conditions, and an opportunity for both personal and professional growth.
We believe the better choice is to preserve the relationship we currently enjoy with all our associates. If asked to sign a union authorization card, we hope our associates will say “no.” Once you sign a card, there may be no second chance. Instead, let’s continue to hold ourselves accountable, driving a high-performance culture and collaborating with one another, independent of a union presence.
